Snake Fly

I've been tying trout flies now for almost 2 months straight and will pick it up again in the winter. Now I have to turn my attention to the surf and make some snake flies for stripers. Catching a striper on a fly in the surf is one of my favorite things to do. Watching one explode on this fly in the wash is awesome. It works really well during the mullet run that occurs in my area around mid September but we have caught fish on this fly anytime of year. I think what makes it so effective is the "V" it makes on the water and the deadly action from the orstrich herl and marabou. A smaller version of this would surely work on big browns at night.

Snake fly.
